Is Your Home Fire Safe?

Protect your family, your house, and your finances with these fire prevention tips courtesy of the National Safety Council.
• Install smoke alarms on every level of your home. Be sure to position them near or in bedrooms, as well as in rooms with appliances like the kitchen and laundry room.
• Test alarms monthly, and replace the batteries annually.
• Always stay near appliances when cooking, and don’t leave your home until you have finished.
• Install carbon monoxide and natural gas detectors.
• Keep matches, lighters, and flammable liquids out of reach of children.
• Do a run-through before you leave your home. Make sure all cooking appliances are off, unplug small devices like curling irons, and turn off candles or diffusers.
